Everywhere you turn you see people looking for love. No one likes being a fifth wheel or the only kid in class without any chocolates. You have your hopeless romantics, with their scented candles and matching him and her t-shirts.
The club scene, the bar scene, the park and library scenes. The dating pool is wide and varied and not always reliable. In fact some of us don’t have time for it, what with work, kids, or other responsibilities. Or maybe we’re nervous about searching for that elusive fish that everyone is always telling us is still swimming around in our sea of prospects. For those of us out there who happen to like the same sex, the choices are even more limited.
Whether you crash bars, crash clubs, or crash weddings in your pursuit of love one thing is true for all. Meeting people on the go is unreliable and often times dangerous. Though unreliable there’s no denying that the dating scene is wide and varied. However some don’t have the time for it, especially with children, work, and an avalanche of other responsibilities.
Or maybe it’s fear of the time and commitment it takes in starting up a relationship, not to mention the loss if it fails, that keeps most of us at home. Those who happen to swing the opposite way of their heterosexual brethren, in other words those who have come out as gay, have an even tougher time.
While we may be able to delegate this massive failure to lack of competence, it doesn’t change the fact that some of this can only be attributed to natural incompatibility. Endless struggle and countless searches later you’ve still failed to find someone who isn’t either one extreme or the next. If that’s the case then it’s more than past time that you tried and even the playing field as a gay man or woman.
It makes sense why it would be harder for someone apart of the GLBT community to find an acceptable mate.
