A three-kilo-baby is literally a bundle of joy for Israeli gay couple Omer and Yonatan Gher. The couple had a baby through invitro fertilisation in a Mumbai-based clinic.
The baby has raised a fresh lease of hope for the Israeli couple and they can hardly hold back their sense of pride.
The couple’s courageous step comes at a time when India is debating the validity of Section 377 and several gay rights activists have been lobbying to scrap this outdated legislation.
Fertility Specialist Dr Gautam Allahabadia says, “The sequel to Dostana will probably start with the children of such families.”
After a painstaking and careful selection of the egg donor, Omer and Yonatan shortlisted only those who scored high on IQ. The cuddly baby Evyatar has celebrated the completion of one month of his birth.
It was a bold move by the Israeli gay couple to let the world see their IVF baby, but will this signal a way forward for same sex couples in India who have been rallying hard to secure their rights?
Dr Gautam Allahabadia says, “Once the law is repealed in India, it will be interesting to see how many Indian gay couples will come forward.”
Though the couple is from a relatively orthodox country, their decision to have a family will give hope to other gay couples worldwide. Omer and Yonatan are back in Tel Aviv and are set for their innings in parenthood.

Iran vows to hit Israels atomic sites if attacked

Irans Revolutionary Guards said today that it would strike Israels nuclear facilities if Tel Aviv attacked the Islamic state, state television reported.
If the Zionist Regime (Israel) attacks Iran, we will surely strike its nuclear facilities with our missile capabilities, Mohammad Ali Jafari, Guards commander-in-chief, told Irans Arabic language al-Alam television.
The Revolutionary Guards are the ideologically driven wing of Irans military with air, sea and land capabilities, and a separate command structure to regular units.
Iranian leaders often dismiss talk of a possible strike by Israel, saying it is not in a position to threaten Iran, the worlds fifth-largest oil exporter. They say Iran would respond to any attack by targeting U.S. interests and Israel.
