my friend has a boyfriend that is going to college to become a teacher, he is going to be doing his student teaching at the same high school my friend attends. She is 18yrs old. He is 25. Is this illegal? Would he get kicked out of college? Should she still attend the school while he is there? should she transfer to another school? What are the laws on this situation?
and if they decide to stop dating for the time he’d be teaching, what if someone accused the man of dating her..?

In the US, it’s not illegal (since they’re both adults), which means he can’t be charged with a crime.

However, it could indeed cause him all kinds of trouble with the school/his school (at every school I’ve ever known of, it was against policy for teachers to date students, rather the student was 18 or not).

As far as her transferring schools…maybe where you live she can transfer, but where I live it’s very hard to get a transfer request approved–you have to have a very valid reason for it and ‘I want to date a teacher’ wouldn’t come close to cutting it.

Of course, the obvious solution–while he’s teaching there, they stop dating. I’m sure they won’t be thrilled with that, but as adults they should have the maturity to realize that it’s the best option.

I right now am substituting for a local high school. A student from a different school district would like to go out on a date, and I’m up for it…but would this do anything bad for me professionally? I’m in my 20’s and he’s 18, graduating this summer. Because he is never going to be in any of my classes or associating with me in a school environment, is it okay to date? Is there any precident for this?

In Australia, that sort of relationship would be inappropriate until he graduates.

Most schools have rules against this. He may not get fired but there will be some type of disciplinary action.

I vote student and teacher. Simply because most of the time it is statutory rape because of the age difference. Beyond that, a student with a teacher is more likely to get undeserved grades. Even if the student is of age, it is still a conflict of interest.

Suppose you are interested in this girl and you are looking for a long-term relationship. You find out she is in medical school. Is this positive or negative?

I’m wondering because it seems girls fall over young male medical students, but it seems to be turn off when the medical student is female. Am I wrong? Could you explain?

no i think dating someone in medical school is great
theyre intelligent and hardworking, or else they wouldnt pick med school lol
i dont think ive heard of girls falling over male med students just like guys have nvr told me med school grls r a turn off
grls fall over guys on tv who play doctors, thats different lol
n as 4 a long term relationship, that may be complicated considering med school takes up most of ur time, but its possible if u 2 can make things work
